Cross-listing and Linking of Courses

The following tested and the expected behavior has been confirmed.

Scenarios 1-4: Cross-listing after course section linking (CSL)
Scenario 1

Targeted section of a cross-list is a master linked section
- X is the master section of a linked section
- Y is linked to X
- Z is linked to X
- THEN A is cross-listed to X
- Correct Results in Schoology:
  - A does not exist
  - SIS enrollments for A are in X
  - When working in X, enrollments for A are shown whenever enrollments for X are shown
  - Grade pass back will send grades and materials to section A for section A enrollments
Remove linked child section from cross-listed linked section (child section is not target of a cross-list)

Unlink Y from X
- Correct Results in Schoology:
  - A does not exist
  - SIS enrollments for A are in X
  - When working in X, enrollments for A are shown whenever enrollments for X are shown
  - Grade pass back will send grades and materials to section A for section A enrollments
  - Y is a separate section, not linked to X, and no enrollments for A can be seen in Y

Scenario 2

Targeted section of a cross-list is a child linked section
- X is the master section of a linked section
- Y is linked to X
- Z is linked to X
- THEN A is cross-listed to Y
- Correct Results in Schoology:
  - A does not exist
  - SIS enrollments for A are in Y
  - When working in X, enrollments for A are shown whenever enrollments for Y are shown
  - Grade pass back will send grades and materials to section A for section A enrollments
Remove linked child section from cross-listed linked section - child section is target of a cross-list

Unlink Y from X
- Correct Results in Schoology:
  - A does not exist
  - Y is a separate section, not linked to X
  - Enrollments for A can be seen in Y
  - SIS enrollments for A are not in X
  - Grade pass back will send grades and materials to section A for section A enrollments

Scenario 3

Child section of a cross-list is a master linked section

X is the master section of a linked section
- Y is linked to X
- Z is linked to X
- THEN X is cross-listed to stand alone section A (A is the target section)
- Correct Results in Schoology (this behavior is pending):
  - A cross-listing row that crosslists a master section of a linked section should fail with message: You cannot cross-list a linked section.

Scenario 4

Child section of a cross-list is a child linked section.

X is the master section of a linked section
- Y is linked to X
- Z is linked to X
- THEN Y is cross-listed to stand alone section A (A is the target section)
- Correct Results in Schoology (this behavior is pending):
  - A cross-listing row that crosslists a child section of a linked section should fail with message: You cannot cross-list a linked section.

Scenario 6

Targeted section of a cross-list is a child linked section
- A is cross-listed to Y
- THEN linking of sections is done
  - X is the master section of a linked section
  - Y is linked to X
  - Z is linked to X
- Correct Results in Schoology:
  - A does not exist
  - SIS enrollments for A are in X, but are shown as Y enrollments
  - When working in X, enrollments for A are shown whenever enrollments for Y are shown
  - Y exist in Schoology and is linked to X
  - Z exist in Schoology and is linked to X
  - Grade pass back will send grades and materials to section A for section A enrollments
Unmap a cross listing between a section and a child section of a linked section
- Unmap cross-list A from Y
  - Correct Results in Schoology:
    - A does not exist
    - Enrollment for A are not in X
    - Enrollments for X are in X
    - Enrollments for Y show in X
    - Y exist in Schoology and is linked to X
    - Z exist in Schoology and is linked to X
  - Provision section A
    - Correct Results in Schoology:
      - A exists in Schoology
  - Provision enrollments for A
    - Correct Results in Schoology:
      - Enrollments for A are in section A

Scenario 7–The following scenario is not possible, because step 1.1 is impossible to complete.

Targeted section of a cross-list is a child linked section
- X is cross-listed to Y
- THEN linking of sections is done
  - X is the master section of a linked section (this is not possible because they will never be able to choose Y to link, because it does not exist in Schoology)
  - Y is linked to X
  - Z is linked to X

Scenario 8–The following scenario is not possible, because step 1.2 is impossible to complete.

Cross-listed section of a cross-list is a child-linked section

Y is cross-listed to A
- THEN linking of sections is done:
  - X is the master section of a linked section
  - Y is linked to X (this is not possible because they will never be able to choose Y to link, because it does not exist in Schoology)
  - Z is linked to X
